Synopsis
Take Hirako is a former First Class Ghoul Investigator who resigns from the CCG later in the story, having spent years as Kishou Arima's partner and, before that, an unremarkable cadet whose skills only became apparent once paired with him. He commands the 21st ward for a time, investigating the S-rated ghoul known as Serpent.
Having inherited much of Arima's calm, calculating approach to combat, Hirako nonetheless retains a conscience his mentor's cold reputation might suggest he lacks — he openly questions the CCG's policies and reprimands colleagues who cause needless civilian casualties, refusing to treat every ghoul encounter as purely a kill order.
After the Dragon War, Hirako is offered the position of vice-chancellor at a peacekeeping academy but turns it down, choosing instead to care for his aging grandparents and live a quieter life — a deliberate step away from the battlefield legacy Arima left him.
