Synopsis
Nobunaga Hazama is member #1 of the Phantom Troupe and one of its founders, born in Meteor City. He ranks ninth in physical strength within the group and holds a unique distinction among the Spiders: his Nen ability has never been revealed.
He dresses in classic Japanese style — a robe over short pants, a sarashi wrapped around his midsection, wrappings on his lower legs — and ties his long black hair into a single topknot. A pencil moustache and a patch of chin hair complete the look, and his katana is almost never out of reach. His expression is usually sullen, though flashbacks to his youth in Meteor City show a far brighter man.
Typically calm but prone to brashness, he argues with his fellow Spiders and struggles badly with split-second decisions. Killua, after seeing him only from a distance, described him to Gon as "a Hisoka" to convey the threat. Uvogin was his closest comrade, and after his death Nobunaga became fixated on recruiting the two boys into the Troupe.
His name references the warlord Oda Nobunaga. He is voiced by Naoya Uchida in the 2011 adaptation and Takashi Matsuyama in the 1999 one.
