Former King

Known to history as the Foolish King, Mahakoht Dola was the last king of Imanity to rule Elkia before his death, and the grandfather of the current princess, Stephanie Dola. His reign is remembered mostly for its losses — a kingdom's library gambled away to the Flügel Jibril, and territory forfeited eight separate times to the werebeasts — a record that earned him open mockery from the very people he governed.

The nickname was only half deserved. He genuinely wasn't a strong gambler, and he knew it, but rather than pretend otherwise he spent his reign quietly gathering the other races' winning methods, hoping to leave Imanity better equipped than he found it. When the werebeasts refused to erase his memory of one such loss out of contempt for humans, he used it: he wrote what he'd learned into a hidden vault, sealed until after his death.

His final act as king was arranging a succession contest rather than simply naming an heir, betting that whoever proved the best gambler in Imanity would be Elkia's best chance at survival. That gamble eventually put the throne within reach of Sora and Shiro, and gave his granddaughter Stephanie a cause she has never stopped fighting for since.
