Grandfather Cranel

Bell Cranel's grandfather is an enigmatic figure whose real name is never given in the story. He alone raised Bell in a remote mountain village after the boy's mother handed him over to the old man's care shortly before her death.

The grandfather instilled in Bell a love of hero stories, and it was those tales, told over long evenings, that became the foundation of Bell's dream of becoming an adventurer. He also gave the boy far more down-to-earth advice about girls and starting a harem, guidance Bell eventually outgrew after meeting Ais Wallenstein.

When Bell was nearly killed by a goblin as a child, it was his grandfather who saved his life. The old man's presumed death became the push that sent the boy leaving his village for Orario to chase that dream, a journey that ultimately led Bell into Hestia's familia. Later material hints at a connection between this figure and the god Zeus, though within the anime itself he remains simply an unnamed grandfather who raised him.
