Chimera Ant Queen

The Chimera Ant Queen is the first of her species the series shows and the progenitress of every Ant in the arc. Queens of her kind normally reach only about ten centimetres; a mutation took her to roughly two metres, which likely explains an anatomy closer to that of a human woman.

She washed ashore, injured, on the Neo-Green Life Autonomous Region (NGL), a small insular nation on the island of the Mitene Union; what preceded that drift is unknown. The following day she named Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi.

Her entire existence was bent on one purpose: bearing a King who would stand at the summit of all life. Even as those very birth pangs killed her, her only concern was whether he had been born healthy. The growing individualism among her offspring, she admitted, interested her very little.

As a predator she is formidable — her intelligence appears human-like and she can lay traps — but her defining trait is the ability to absorb the genes of creatures she eats and pass them to her spawn, breeding vast numbers of Ants in a short span. Voiced by Masako Ikeda.
