Synopsis
Reiner Braun is the leader of the Warrior Unit and the main protagonist of Attack on Titan's story told from the Marleyan perspective. The illegitimate son of an Eldian mother, Karina Braun, and a Marleyan father, he grew up in Liberio's internment zone before being chosen as a child to inherit the Armored Titan at age ten.
In 845 he infiltrated Paradis Island alongside Bertolt Hoover and Annie Leonhart on a mission to reclaim the Founding Titan, later joining the Survey Corps under a false identity after graduating second in the 104th Training Corps. As a child he was quiet and meek but intensely loyal, convinced that becoming a Warrior would win back his absent father's approval; Marley's propaganda led him to see the people of Paradis as monsters, a belief that eroded painfully once he lived among the very people he'd been sent to destroy.
