Synopsis

Bishamon, formally Bishamonten, is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune and a goddess of war with a shrine and following far larger than Yato's. She takes in wandering, troubled spirits without hesitation and gives every one of them a place among her shinki — a generosity that sits oddly next to the emotional distance she keeps from them, a habit born from having failed to protect an earlier family of shinki.

For a long stretch of the story she is fixated on making Yato pay for that old loss, at one point nearly disowning her own guidepost, Kazuma, over his ties to him. Learning the true circumstances of her shinki's deaths eventually lets her set that vengeance down and, slowly, accept Yato as something closer to an ally.

Bishamon is formal with outsiders but fiercely loyal to the people in her circle, including her shinki Kuraha, and she is stubborn to the point of self-destruction: even though dying and being reincarnated as a new Bishamonten is an option open to her, she refuses it, unwilling to let go of who she currently is.
