Synopsis
Basho is a Hunter from Jappon who signed on as a Nostrade family bodyguard alongside Kurapika, and who later became a bodyguard to Prince Luzurus Hui Guo Rou.
He is usually seen in a small vest, trousers and tall boots — a heavily muscled man with pronounced abs and a hairy chest, thick eyebrows, a cleft chin, a pompadour, a moustache and sideburns. On royal duty he switches to a black suit and tie.
Basho is casual, outgoing and talkative, with a real sense of humour — he simply laughed off Kurapika's blunt demand never to speak to him again. Confident as he is, he can recognise clearly when a confrontation is unwinnable. He holds that life should be lived to the fullest.
By his own account he has tried every substance going, but always returns to his own recipe, Clean Leaf; all his heavy-smoking friends who tried it got hooked on it and, ironically, got healthier for it. As a Hunter he is capable enough to have retrieved rare and even illegal items for his employers.
