Synopsis
Si-eun An, known in ALfheim Online as Siune, is the second sub-leader of the Sleeping Knights, the guild of terminally ill players formed at the virtual hospice Serene Garden. Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, she went through chemotherapy and briefly recovered before relapsing; unable to find a compatible bone marrow donor, she has since relied on palliative treatment to manage the pain. Raised bilingual by a Korean father and Japanese mother, she speaks both languages fluently.
Kind-hearted but emotionally fragile, Si-eun nearly gave up on multiple occasions before finding strength in Yuuki, who shared the same illness and pain and helped her keep going. She chooses ALfheim Online as an Undine when the guild finally settles there after visiting several other virtual worlds together, and remains close to the group through to its final chapter, including attending Yuuki's memorial alongside her own brother, who waits outside at her request.
