Ake

Ake is a minor character in the historical drama Vinland Saga and one of the warriors serving in Askeladd's band. He has short dark hair and a short beard, and unlike many of his comrades he wears no armour, dressing only in a short-sleeved shirt and a dark sleeveless tunic. He comes across as a disparaging, sharp-tongued man, and as a seasoned fighter he wields an axe and shield.

During the invasion of England, Ake took part in a raid on a farming village near Bath in November 1013. Once the inhabitants had been slaughtered, the Vikings held a feast, and Ake ate among his companions, including Tore. As the men talked about Askeladd's plans, Ake mocked Tore as a fool, pointing out that their band barely numbered over a hundred men and could not hope to plunder a larger town.

The insult quickly soured into a quarrel. Tore refused to back down and called Ake a cow thief, and the argument escalated into a duel. Björn noticed the fight but chose to let them settle it, ordering only that Askeladd be told if either man died. Ake's stubbornness cost him his life, as Tore ran him through the chest with his sword. He is voiced by Mitsuhiro Ichiki in Japanese and J. Michael Tatum in English.
