Mukainakano Yoshio was born 1944 in Ashibetsu, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. He is an animator and founder and current representative director of Studio Zaendou.

In his youth he happened to see Hakujaden, which changed his life and prompted him to become an animator. After being refused as a mangaka assistant, because he had only finished junior high, he went to a high school in Tokyo. During his free time he kept drawing and making sketches, eventually even being suggested to visit an art college after graduation. However, after graduating from high school he waited for a company entrance examination at Toei, where he took part and was accepted based on the drawings he presented.

He kept working for Toei till he became freelance in 1982 and established an own animation studio, Studio Zaendou.
