Yokohama Animation Lab

Yokohama Animation Laboratory is a Japanese animation studio founded in 2015 in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. The company was established by Yuma Oue, a former producer at Production I.G. Since its inception, the studio has specialized in producing television anime series, OVAs, promotional videos, and animation projects for a variety of media franchises.

The studio's first major independent production was the anime adaptation of the popular mobile game Monster Strike, which helped establish its presence within the anime industry. Yokohama Animation Laboratory later produced several television series, including Lapis Re, Magatsu Wahrheit: Zuerst, The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal, and The Great Cleric. These titles showcase the studio's versatility across multiple genres, including fantasy, adventure, comedy, and video game adaptations.

As the company expanded, it established specialized production divisions focused on TV anime, short-form animation, CGI production, commercial videos, and animation support for other studios. This diversified structure has enabled Yokohama Animation Laboratory to participate in a broader range of animation projects and creative collaborations.

In 2025, the studio became a subsidiary of Frontier Works, marking an important milestone in its growth. The acquisition strengthened the studio's production capabilities and created new opportunities to collaborate on larger-scale anime projects. Today, Yokohama Animation Laboratory continues to produce television anime and other animation works while steadily building its reputation as one of Japan's emerging animation studios.
