Debuted with Massugu ni Ikou in the 1991 November Issue of The Margaret, when she was in her third year of high school. In 2000, the same work was awarded merit in the Japan Media Arts Festival.

Her pen name came from Kirahime, a character from a novel she was reading before debuting.
