Banjuurou Tokieda

Banjuro Tokieda is a capable onmitsu and lieutenant to Toko Kusumi, handling everything from driving to front-line combat for the Bureau of Espionage. A former mercenary hitman, he fled Japan for the criminal underworld of the Korean Peninsula, China, and eventually Russia, where he picked up the language and folded the martial art of Systema into his own assassination style. He returned home after the Soviet collapse and went back to underworld work — until a job pitted him against a mononoke-guarded target and left him gravely wounded. Bureau agents who arrived to hunt the mononoke saved his life instead, and he was recruited soon after, quickly earning a place in the elite Black Cloak squad. Always polite and pleasantly composed — a poker face honed in the underworld — Banjuro is a formidable card and mahjong player who treats even his own life as a tool to be used, without complaint, whichever way he's told.
