The Forest Spirit

The Forest Spirit from «Mononoke Hime» is an ancient entity known as Shishigami. By day, he appears as a massive stag with many antlers, bird-like feet, and a baboon's face. At sunset, he transforms into Daidarabocchi, a gigantic humanoid god made of stars, with a long pointed face and tentacle-like spikes on his back. Shishigami is protected by the Wolf Clan, and as he walks, flowers bloom at his feet, only to wither quickly. He possesses the power to both give and take life.
