Shinsuke Takasugi is a former comrade of Gintoki and Katsura, and a major antagonist. He leads a radical Joui faction known as the Kiheitai and is recognized among the Shinsengumi as 'the most dangerous man' in the Joui faction. Easily identifiable by his bandaged left eye, colorful kimono, and eerie smile, Shinsuke appears in «Gintama», where his complex personality and past play a crucial role in the storyline.
