Synopsis
Yoshirou Sonozaki is one of three uncles of Mion and Shion Sonozaki, and he runs the Toy Store, one of the many businesses the Sonozaki family controls in Okinomiya. Confusingly, another of the sisters' uncles also goes by Yoshirou in English, though the two names are written with different kanji and belong to entirely different men — that other uncle manages the restaurant Angel Mort, while this one keeps the toy shop.
He hosts the game tournaments that Keiichi Maebara and the rest of the club play at his store, and usually rewards the winners with prizes, including a doll that becomes a running source of admiration among the group. In some outcomes he gives that doll to Rena Ryuuguu rather than to Mion Sonozaki, wanting to preserve his easy, brotherly rapport with her — a small favor that, without his realizing it, feeds Mion's jealousy over Keiichi and helps push events toward tragedy.
In a lighter episode he hands Keiichi a supposedly cursed pair of swimming trunks and mixes up the instructions, telling him to write his own name on them instead of his crush's — a mix-up that would make Keiichi fall in love with himself if he kept wearing them.
He is described as bearded and ponytailed, dressed in a blue T-shirt, an apron, glasses and a bandana befitting a shopkeeper who spends his days surrounded by toys.
