Synopsis
Akira Kunimi is a wing spiker for Aoba Johsai High who attended Kitagawa Daiichi Junior High alongside Kageyama and was frequently on the receiving end of his sharp criticism for not trying hard enough in practice. Together with Yuutarou Kindaichi, Kunimi once went as far as asking their coach to bench Kageyama, unable to tolerate his demands any longer.
Reserved and seemingly indifferent, Kunimi mostly just has no patience for unnecessary fuss — loud, high-energy people irritate him, which is why he privately lumps Hinata in with a group he calls the idiot squad. Despite a reputation for laziness and occasional skipped practices, his real strength shows up late in matches: what looks like apathy is closer to calculated conservation of effort.
After graduating, Kunimi went on to college and plans to work at a bank in Miyagi.
