Synopsis
Kaonashi, also known as No Face, is a peculiar spirit fascinated by Chihiro. Initially, he appears as a strange cloaked figure with a mask, merely breathing and smiling. This lonely being sustains itself on the emotions of those around him, helping Chihiro because she showed him kindness. However, after witnessing the bathhouse staff's greed, he transforms into a grotesque monster that consumes food and some of the staff. Once he leaves the bathhouse's influence, he calms down and reverts to his original state, eventually staying with Zeniba as a helper. Kaonashi's mask and movements share similarities with traditional Japanese Noh theater.
