Van Hohenheim

Van Hohenheim is the father of protagonists Edward and Alphonse Elric, as well as a renowned alchemist. He abandoned his family when Al was a baby and Ed was very young, leading Ed to harbor resentment for his father's departure, which he believes contributed to their mother's death. In the manga "Fullmetal Alchemist," he is referred to as "Van Hohenheim," not Hohenheim Elric, as Edward emphasizes that "Elric is my mother's name!".
