Edward Newgate, known as Whitebeard, is a prominent supporting character in the anime "One Piece," which premiered in 1999. Regarded as one of the strongest pirates in the world, he is said to be an equal to the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, with whom he had numerous battles. Despite his health issues, Whitebeard remains a formidable presence in the pirate world, often surrounded by nurses yet still enjoying his rum. He also appears in several films and spin-offs of "One Piece."
