Synopsis
Toshimasa Azuma is Jiro Azuma's grandfather and a retired onmitsu of the Bureau of Espionage, the agency's secret division tasked with monitoring and eliminating hostile mononoke. Heir to a family of onmitsu going back generations, he spent his active years fighting the criminal underworld, then retired after his wife died and his daughter came home pregnant by a man he could never trace — only for her to die in childbirth. That loss drove Toshimasa to raise his grandson Jiro alone, determined to be the last of the family's onmitsu line. He returned to active duty as a special advisor after the Amagi incident, training new recruits and the Bureau's regular ranks. Though he doesn't yet know it, the search he abandoned for Jiro's father will resurface — and set Jiro on the same path years later.
